I may come to regret giving myself yet another thing to do. However, since I’ve got one yaoi novel almost complete, one story-boarded, and at least two more knocking around in my brain ready to be story-boarded, I figured I may as well just bite the bullet and put up a new site.
No promises on regular releases, since I want to do releases as complete PDF volumes, not as chapters. I WILL provide progress updates, though.
Anyway, here’s the deal. The first novel is actually a revamp of a manuscript I completed and then abandoned, which was a straight paranormal romance. Not a bad story, per se, but way better as yaoi. (Isn’t everything better as yaoi, though?) As of this moment, I’ve redone 4 of 19 chapters (in under 6 hours) and imagine that I’ll have it done in the next couple of days. (Eventually, this particular storyline may end up being multiple volumes. It has potential, but we’ll see how things go. I don’t want to get ahead of myself.)
Here’s where I need help. I am completely incapable of proofreading my own crap after having stared at it for so long (which is why the publishing gods created editors). I need a volunteer proofreader to check for basic errors and tell me if I went all zombietiger and made no sense someplace (anyone who has made an attempt to have a conversation with me first thing in the morning knows exactly what I’m talking about) or mixed up names or just plain suck. Also, as I’m changing the characters in this particular volume, I need a proofreader to make sure I’ve changed all the “she” to “he”, etc. :) As I am releasing this volume for free (NOT for sale), I’m not in a position to pay you (though I WOULD be happy to send you a hard copy, assuming you can assure me that you’re 18 or older and I’m not breaking any laws by sending it to you). You’ll be credited for it.
Though less likely to happen, it would also be nice if I could find a volunteer artist, even if it’s just for the cover art (though, obviously, interior art would also be nice). Same as above, this is strictly voluntary and the most I’d be able to do is send a hard copy and give you the credit you deserve. ORIGINAL ART ONLY, PLEASE, as I have no desire to be sued.
If you’re interested in either, please let me know. I can provide you with the first few chapters if you want to see if you’d be interested in the story. (If I see those first few chapters posted someplace else, though, I’ll cry. They’re not final drafts, after all.) If you’re interested in doing artwork for it, I’ll be asking for a sample of your work.
Oh, and if you’re curious why I didn’t put this over on crankytiger.net, you didn’t read the entrance page. It’s in hopes that I won’t have to answer awkward questions from family members. While my mother HAS read everything I’ve ever written, I’m pretty sure she’d be traumatized for life if she read anything I’d release here. This is the same reason that, unfortunately, I can’t note releases on my Twitter account.
