Happy Valentine’s Day!

Everyone knows that we all need a little smut romance on Valentine’s Day, and we’ve done our part by preparing a short Intentions story for you.  The download link is also available on the Intentions page.  Chances are very good that when I revise Volume 1 for new release, I’ll add this onto the end of it.

Reading volume 1 is not required to get what’s going on in the short story, but it IS recommended.  (I mean, we released volume 1 for free, what do you have to lose aside from some time? ;) )  If you enjoy the story, we encourage you to spread the word to your friends.

Kleink and I wish all of our readers a very smutty happy Valentine’s Day!

Chocolate-Coated Intentions (Short Story):

Now that things have settled down, Rain and Aiden are cohabitating in their new house.  The only problem is, Aiden’s been left alone while Rain deals with Pack matters.  Will Rain be able to make it up to him, or are things about to get too messy for comfort?

Randomness ahead!

Hey there, this is kleink writing. I’ve been nice and quiet until now, but Cranky has given me control *insert evil laugh here*

Just thought you might like to know that we don’t just do bogus status updates to keep you content. I’m actually working quite hard for you, steadily whipping Cranky to write faster (and bribing her with chocolate, but I’d never admit to that).

Intentions two is coming along nicely and she’ll have a couple of neat little surprises for you over the next few months, so stay tuned for more Intentions-goodness and anything else that might crop up (read: that I might allow her to write. Everything not Intentions takes time away from creating more Intentions after all!)

As promised…

The question has been posted here!  Now let’s see if anyone actually answers… ;)

[CLOSED - we have an answer!]

Jan 26 2012

I haven’t forgotten about you.

The contest hasn’t posted, I know.  I’ll be fixing that on Saturday.  Because of my unwillingness to make comments open instead of moderating them, I’ll be posting it on my mostly unused livejournal – don’t worry, there’s no need to friend me, I’ll make it public.  I’ll be posting it Saturday, 12pm Pacific.  The first person to post the correct answer will have the opportunity to name a side character (and their species/breed) for the second Intentions volume.

Speaking of which…  Because I COULDN’T QUIT THINKING ABOUT IT, I’m working on Intentions 2 before I work on Trouble 1.  I had absolutely no ability to concentrate on Trouble, despite having the whole thing storyboarded, because I kept thinking about Intentions.  I’m pretty sure Kleink brainwashed me.  A section for Intentions 2 has been added to the Intentions page (no description yet, I’m writing it by the seat of my pants, but I’ll tell you that it focuses on Max this time <3).  I anticipate releasing it on White Day (because otherwise Kleink will swim across the Atlantic, hitchhike across the US, and I’ll wake up to find her at my doorstep – she’s assured me that she’d be perfectly willing to chain me to my desk while she plays with my cats and empties my fridge).  I’ll be writing 3 after that, and than I MAY try to concentrate on Trouble 1 before writing Intentions 4.  (If I can keep with my current projected time schedule, Intentions 3 will be released for my birthday.  Nifty!  And before you ask, I’ll be turning 21.  Again.)

I’ll also release a revised version of Intentions 1 when I release Intentions 2, taking care of some of the things that I’d meant to change but, in my rush, forgot about.

A Different Breed of Intentions

This is later than I had wanted it to be, and for that I apologize, but my family can’t seem to catch a break lately.  At the end of August, my grandmother (the undisputed reigning matriarch of our family) died.  On January 7, I got a call from my mom that my grandmother’s sister (who was also like a grandmother to me, and who I’d been sending letters to once a week since my grandmother’s funeral) had died.  Obviously, this catapulted my mood into a very special level of crankiness that D typically refers to as “bitchypants” (because the term usually makes me laugh) and I lost my motivation to do ANYTHING.  Needless to say, it screwed with my schedule (and my ability to write).  Thank god for Kleink and her ability to nag me into doing my work make me focus. :)

So again, please forgive me for taking longer than I’d hoped.  I hate missing deadlines, even if they’re ones I give myself.

Now on to the (hopefully) fun stuff.  Welcome to the first official release!  I’m very excited (trans: SCARED TO DEATH) to have you read it.  I’m certainly not expecting everyone who reads it to like it, but please be gentle with me if you feel the need to tell me it sucks. :)

Before I give out the link, I would like to say this: Please, if you want to share the volume, direct people to this post or the project page instead of uploading it somewhere else.  You will also notice that all appropriate copyrights are in place.  Just because the book’s cheap doesn’t mean it’s easy. ;)  Please respect these copyrights.  Thank you for understanding!

And now, I invite you to download A Different Breed of Intentions.

As mentioned previously, I DO want to do some little contest type thing for this release.  Check back in a couple days for details, I want to give people time to read before I post it.

Also, if all goes well, the next release will be a short story on Valentine’s Day.  I’m hoping to release the next full volume on White Day.  There’s a chance that the full volume may end up getting released for Valentine’s Day instead, though, since Kleink may hunt me down and nag me in person if I don’t give her volume 2 of Intentions soon. :)

A Couple of Updates

I have, at this moment, only two chapters of Intentions left to revamp.  After that, there are a few minor modifications to make before I send the chapters off to my wonderful volunteer proofreader (thank you!)  If I’d actually gotten more than three hours of sleep Monday night, I probably would have finished with the revamping this morning.  Instead, I spent last night staring at my monitor all zombietiger-like until it was finally late enough for me to go to bed without the possibility of waking up at midnight.

The point I was getting at (before I started rambling) is that I’ll be releasing volume 1* of Intentions in the next couple of weeks.

Now, on to the other point of this update:

I was reading through my revamps last night (in between muttering “braaaaaains” and wondering if I could go to bed yet), and was giggling over a reference I made to an 80′s cartoon**, when it dawned on me… there are a few references I’ve made to various things without naming a specific cartoon/movie/etc, and it would be really easy for me to say something like “the first person who can tell me what X I’m referencing on page Y will be able to choose Z in the next story”.  That thought was still bouncing around in my head at 4:30 this morning, so when I release Intentions, chances of having a challenge like that in the post are extremely high.  I haven’t settled on what it will be for yet, but several things have come to mind (choosing a theme for a short story or naming a side character, for instance). I hope you look forward to it.

Thanks for your patience!  Hopefully the next time you hear from me, it’ll be for the release.

*I’ve pretty much decided there will be at least one more volume.  I’ve worked in a couple things that really need to be resolved in another volume.  The next volume of Intentions will likely NOT be the next volume I release, though.  I REALLY want to write the other story that I have story-boarded, which I’m hoping to release on Valentine’s Day.  If not Valentine’s Day, then White Day.

**To be honest, I’m STILL not sure why I was giggling.  It’s not like it was a funny reference or something.  I place full blame on my lack of sleep. :)

Welcome to Cranky @ Midnight!

I may come to regret giving myself yet another thing to do.  However, since I’ve got one yaoi novel almost complete, one story-boarded, and at least two more knocking around in my brain ready to be story-boarded, I figured I may as well just bite the bullet and put up a new site.

No promises on regular releases, since I want to do releases as complete PDF volumes, not as chapters. I WILL provide progress updates, though.

Anyway, here’s the deal.  The first novel is actually a revamp of a manuscript I completed and then abandoned, which was a straight paranormal romance.  Not a bad story, per se, but way better as yaoi.  (Isn’t everything better as yaoi, though?)  As of this moment, I’ve redone 4 of 19 chapters (in under 6 hours) and imagine that I’ll have it done in the next couple of days.  (Eventually, this particular storyline may end up being multiple volumes.  It has potential, but we’ll see how things go.  I don’t want to get ahead of myself.)

Here’s where I need help. I am completely incapable of proofreading my own crap after having stared at it for so long (which is why the publishing gods created editors).  I need a volunteer proofreader to check for basic errors and tell me if I went all zombietiger and made no sense someplace (anyone who has made an attempt to have a conversation with me first thing in the morning knows exactly what I’m talking about) or mixed up names or just plain suck.  Also, as I’m changing the characters in this particular volume, I need a proofreader to make sure I’ve changed all the “she” to “he”, etc. :)  As I am releasing this volume for free (NOT for sale), I’m not in a position to pay you (though I WOULD be happy to send you a hard copy, assuming you can assure me that you’re 18 or older and I’m not breaking any laws by sending it to you).  You’ll be credited for it.

Though less likely to happen, it would also be nice if I could find a volunteer artist, even if it’s just for the cover art (though, obviously, interior art would also be nice).  Same as above, this is strictly voluntary and the most I’d be able to do is send a hard copy and give you the credit you deserve.  ORIGINAL ART ONLY, PLEASE, as I have no desire to be sued.

If you’re interested in either, please let me know.  I can provide you with the first few chapters if you want to see if you’d be interested in the story.  (If I see those first few chapters posted someplace else, though, I’ll cry.  They’re not final drafts, after all.)  If you’re interested in doing artwork for it, I’ll be asking for a sample of your work.

Oh, and if you’re curious why I didn’t put this over on crankytiger.net, you didn’t read the entrance page.  It’s in hopes that I won’t have to answer awkward questions from family members.  While my mother HAS read everything I’ve ever written, I’m pretty sure she’d be traumatized for life if she read anything I’d release here.  This is the same reason that, unfortunately, I can’t note releases on my Twitter account.
